Marilena Gounari was born and raised in Athens. She is a psychologist - psychotherapist. She made her undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Crete and continued in the Post-Graduate Program on «Pain Management» at the Medical School, University of Ioannina. She has completed training in Existential Systemic approach in the therapeutic and training Institute of «Antistixi» where she works as a scientific collaborator.
She has worked in the Greek Center for Intercultural Psychiatry and Care and in the Medical- Educational Service of the Pediatric and Psychiatric Health Center of the Greek Social Security Organisation. Her main task is psychotherapy of adults, couples, adolescents and their families. She has also worked on diagnosing learning and emotional disorders of children and adolescents. She has participated in national and international mental health conferences and has written articles in scientific journals. She is a member of the Greek Systemic Therapy Association (ELESYTH).
As a psychotherapist she is involved in the process of highlighting the authentic face of the healer, acting as a catalyst in their effort to find their personal meaning of life as well as experience a life in freedom.
She is married and has a daughter and a son.
