The 2021 Counterpoint Symposium could have no other theme than desire as we come together in person after a long period of confinement. It is a fact that desire is rekindled in conditions of deprivation.

Desire: the experience of a lack, an impulse that threatens us and at the same time a power that surpasses us, a transcendence.

Desire: hope, faith in the new, faith in the power that comes from life.

It is about the eucharistic view of the world.

Desire expresses life, need expresses survival.

Absence of desire corresponds to death. Anyone who lacks desire simply survives.

Possessiveness is a crippled form of desire. The desire for the other, when it seeks to determine its course, while it is called care is dominance. It is unbearable to be trapped in someone else's dreams.

Desire in its mature expression requires taking responsibility.

We are also called to face failure, when we realize that something we desired very much, while some others have achieved it, for us the opportunity has been lost.

Desire causes ripples, like a pebble on the surface of a lake. It inspires, motivates, worries, awakens, excites.

But for desire to be fruitful, a Law is also needed. Thanks to the Law, human desire becomes more intense, it pulsates. Without the barrier of the Law desire sinks and dies.

What does Law mean? We cannot have it all, enjoy it all, know it all. There are always limitations in life.

Desire as a call includes the responsibility to respond to its call.

The process of psychotherapy involves desire, will and decision.

The desire of the Healer according to Lacan is "to silence love"!

The Healer acts in such a way as to put the treated person in front of his dilemmas, to make possible the encounter with the truth of his unconscious desire.

The Healer primarily wants the client to release his desire and take responsibility for fulfilling it.

The Healer wants the client to see the beauty of his soul.
