First of all, fear is about awareness of danger, so it is valuable because it warns and protects. But often fear is about openness to life, openness to love, as well as personal development.
Fear thrives in the semi-darkness, where shadows take on terroristic dimensions. It constantly lurks in our lives. It is the fear of change, it is the fear of the new, it is the fear of future evil, it is the fear of failure, it is the panic of proximity. We stand against fear, we name it. We connect it to the past and the ghosts of the parental home, where we were trained from an early age to confront fear. We distinguish it from phobias, which concern a displacement of real fear, which dares not be named.
Courage presupposes cowardice, in the sense that one can be courageous only by knowing what fear is. Courage is the energy of the heart that overcomes the coldness of the mind when it comes into contact with the negative feeling of fear.
