Couple's Therapy: Rekindling Desire
Love is the possibility to empirically understand the meaning of existence. Renunciation of being romantic leads to renunciation of life itself.
Love in the beginning requires very few elements to exist. An attractive appearance. A pleasant environment. Two beautiful words. A promise. A flower. A bit of a mystery. An intimacy.
Later love becomes very demanding. It demands honesty, respect, consistency, surprise, constancy, renewal, the beauty of the gaze, the constant rekindling of desire.
Therapists within the Existential Systemic perspective support couples who seek a more functional relationship and even use their conflicts to develop their relationship, which of course also requires the development of each partner.
